University of West Alabama

The U of West Alabama (formerly Livingston U) is a public university. It was founded as a church-affiliated academy for women in 1835, served as a teachers college for much of its history, and gained university status in 1967. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Business and Commerce, Education, and Liberal Arts, and the School of Natural Science and Math. Its 600-acre campus is located in Livingston, 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa.
