- 1308The orchestra rehearses twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday from 3:10 to 5:00). Non-music majors find it a relaxing break from their academics. The orchestra performs four to five concerts a year of varied repertoire. Recent performances have included works by Elgar, Haydn, Saint-Saens, Mozart, Dvorak, and Robert Carl. Each Spring the orchestra also collaborates with the opera program to perform operas and musical theater. Recent shows have included Jane Eyre and Orpheus in the Underworld. In 2006 the WSU Orchestra was chosen to perform at the All Northwest Music Educator's National Conference in Portland, Oregon. All string scholarship recipients are required to be orchestra members.
