You would think I'm quiet and shy if you didn't know me very well, but once you do get to know me you'll that I'm pretty outgoing and willing to try new things. I love to have fun, but I know what my priorities are and keep my life balanced from family and friends, to school work and clubs, to dance class and girl scouts.
Extracurricular
- Performance
- Every year for Sri Lankan New Year, several other girls and I perform cultural Sri Lankan dances for the new year's celebrations in our community.
- Girl Scouts
- I've been in Girl Scouts since 6th grade, and I can honestly say that it has helped me become a better person. I've learned to become a better leader, and new ways of helping people in my community. It has opened me up to new activities and helped me make
- USYVL
- I participated in USYVL for 3 seasons and hope to volunteer as an assistant coach sometime soon.
- Bharathanatiyum Dance
- I have been taking Bharathanatiyum Dance classes since 2007. I enjoy going to class and performing for others.
- Peer Assistant Leadership
- My 8th grade my PAL class volunteered at Freedom Village (a retirement home in our city.) We went around Christmas time and helped them make various Christmas crafts.
- School Club: All Kids Count
- In All Kids Count, we help children who are less fortunate. During school we made carnival games then one day after school we went to a preschool for less fortunate kids and set up a small carnival.
- I am an MUN student at ETHS.
- I have been in Model UN since freshman year at El Toro High School. I really enjoy this program and I am Novice Trainer for the 2009-2010 school year.
- Younger Girl Scouts and other children in the neightborhood
- I organized and directed 2 Geo-cache bike hikes and 2 other Geo-cache events with another scout in my troop. We lead 5-6 kids in our neighborhood each time. These events were organized as part of the prerequisites for earning our Girl Scout Gold Award.
- My school's MUN program
- For the 2009-2010 school year I will be one of 5 other novice trainers. We are responsible for preparing the novices for committee and helping them with speeches and papers.
- French Club
- For the 2009-2010 school year I will be our French Club's secretary. I am responsible for keeping track of what is discussed during our meetings and keeping everyone up to date on information.
- French National Honor Society
- This is similar to NHS, but is for students with outstanding achievement in French. As an SHF member I participate in international events that our school is involved in.
- National Youth Leadership Forum on LAw
- I am interested in a career in the filed of law so I went to the NYLF program in 2009. We experienced a lot of law related careers and events in the one week program.
