I was wondering if it is better to dorm within the campus or outside and that which one would cost less?
  • 1270
Campus housing offers great options and the ultimate in convenience to help you get the most out of your college experience. As for cost, if you are able to find roommates you may be able to save some money living off campus but most students live on campus their first 2 years. Here is the link to our campus housing page for more information, http://housing.ucsc.edu/index.html.

Hi my name is Heathy and my question was about majors as human biology or medical anthropology??
  • 1270
Hello Heathy, UCSC has a B.S. major in Human Biology that is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine or biomedical research. Our Anthropology undergraduate program incorporates three subfields of anthropology: anthropological archaeology, cultural anthropology, and physical anthropology. Students take courses in all three subfields in order to develop a multifaceted perspective on being human. Here is the link to our campus website to explore our majors, http://admissions.ucsc.edu/academics/majors/. Best of luck!

Hi Danielle, Either the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Plus Writing would be fine as long as they are taken no later than the December of your senior year. We have no preference.

I am only a freshman now but what can I be doing to be considered for acceptance. I have down my next three year achedule and have all the courses you list worked in. What additional activities, clubs or involvements would strengthen my application? My family visits Santa Cruz every summer in July. Is there a chance to meet someone and tour the part of the college for computers and also the dorms?
  • 1270
UC Santa Cruz uses a holistic approach in selecting freshmen for admission. Applicants are thoroughly reviewed to determine the full spectrum of their academic and personal achievements, viewed in the context of their academic and personal opportunities. UCSC uses 14 faculty-approved criteria to determine an individualized, single score for each applicant. Here is the link to our freshman guide that has a good description of the 14 criteria, http://admissions.ucsc.edu/publications/freshmanguide-2012-13-final.pdf.
