Make plans to attend the documentary by the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life by oral historian and filmmaker Josh Parshall which shares the legacy of Laredo's dynamic Jewish community. Parshall will be on hand and a Special Exhibit of Jewish History will be on display. The event also serves to launch the University's South Texas Jewish Heritage Collection.

The film is today at 6 p.m. in SC 236. Admission is free and open to the public.

Laredo, Texas, has a proud history – and that history includes the legacy of Laredo’s Jewish community. Next week, that legacy will be shared anew, thanks to a new documentary film created by the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL).

The film will premiere in the Student Center 236 at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 6 p.m.

TAMIU employees will spend part the afternoon and part of the morning at the University’s annual TAMIU Enrichment Day, Friday, May 18 starting at 11:30 a.m.

While University offices will remain open, staff and services will be greatly reduced.

  • Summer hours are drawing near. Starting May 31, University offices will be open Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. - noon. The exceptions are offices that serve admission, recruitment, financial aid and registrar’s functions. Currently, their hours are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 pm.., Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. until Thursday, May 31 (8 a.m. - 6 p.m.).
