I was looking at your site and it said that you live with a host-family for your time in Spain. Is that the only option?
  • 1015
Hi again, there are actually 3 options: in addition to host families, there are residences (like a student dorm) and shared apartments as well. The host family is a great option to transition to university in a new language and culture, but if you'd like a more "typical student experience" we offer different residences as well. Shared apartments are reserved for upperclassmen - after your first year of college. You can see more information and links here: http://www.suffolk.edu/madrid/41363.html

what is the average SAT score for your school?
  • 1015
Hi Esthefanie, an SAT score is one of the items we use in making an admission decision. If a student has a solid B average with testing in the 1500 range, admission should not be a problem. Students below that are not necessarily denied, but we look at the mitigating factors. If we feel the student has collegiate and academic potential, we will give them a chance. Suffolk is an institution that believes in that.

Do you have Accounting as a major at the Madrid Campus? Can you send me more information about Suffolk? Would I be able to start at the Madrid campus or do I have to start in Boston and then transfer to the Madrid campus? Do you accept FAFSA?
  • 1015
Hi Alexa, you can start out at the Madrid Campus, and study here for up to two years. After that time, you'd make the internal transfer to the Boston Campus to complete your degree. Accounting is one of the majors we offer, and you'd be interested to know that the Accounting Department at Suffolk University is accredited by AACSB International. See more information here: http://www.suffolk.edu/business/8141.html . We do accept the FAFSA, so be sure to get your application in as soon as possible. I don't see your graduation date or address on your zinch profile. Could you send me a private message here on zinch with that information? I'd be happy to send you a brochure by mail. Saludos desde Madrid, Tom Biedermann, Office of Admission

Can you send me an informational packet on this? Or an email perhapse? This is the college I am most interested in! -Does the Madrid campus offer classes in english?
    • 1015
Hi Lillian, Thanks for your message. I'll ask my colleagues at the Boston Campus to mail you an information packet. Even though we are in Spain, Suffolk is an American university, so all our classes (except in our Spanish Dept.) are in English. Students here fulfill the same requirements they would for a bachelor degree in the US, but with the added advantage of studying in this European capital. I'll send you an email with some more information and links so you can find out more. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Saludos desde Madrid, Tom Biedermann, Office of Admission

What type of courses do you offer?
    • 1015
Hi Maryam, We offer most of the core courses that provide the foundation for almost all our majors. Students usually complete the first two years of undergraduate coursework here in Madrid. There are over 70 different majors, and you can see them here: http://www.suffolk.edu/madrid/34688.html. After you complete the available coursework in Madrid, you'd make the internal transfer to the Boston Campus to complete your degree requirements. Transfer to our home campus in Boston is "seamless" - a simple process with no loss of credits earned. Not only is this process easy, but doing your university studies on two continents helps you get a truly global, bi-cultural education, something that is important in today's global world. Hi Maryam, In order to complete all the majors we offer, it is necessary for students to finish at the Boston Campus. You can start out in Madrid, and study here for up to two years before making the seamless transition to Boston to complete your Bachelor's Degree. Suffolk's campuses in the US and Spain give you the opportunity achieve a global education which spans two continents. Boston is America's ultimate college town, and Suffolk is located in the heart of this historic city in Beacon Hill. However, if you opt not to finish with Suffolk, you can also apply as a transfer student to another American university of your choice.

I'd like to apply to this college, but i don't want to waste any more money, because i have applied to a lot of schools. Is there any chance of me being accepted into this university?
    • 1015
Hi Ashley, It wouldn't be fair answer your question without knowing what kind of student you are. Students are usually offered admission if we can see at least a solid B average (3.0 GPA out of 4) and around 500 in each of the 3 categories on the SAT (1500 total). Students below that are not necessarily denied, but we look at the mitigating factors. If we feel the student has collegiate and academic potential, we will give them a chance. Suffolk is an institution that believes in that. If I can help you with anything else, please feel free to send me a message here on zinch. Saludos desde Madrid, Tom Biedermann, Office of Admission

when applying, will I be applying as a first year, or as a study abroad student? I'm confused. p.s. I live in California.
    • 1015
Hi Mariela, As you are currently in high school, you should apply as a first-year or degree seeking student. The "study abroad" option is for students already in university who want to come to the Madrid Campus for a semester or two and return to their home institution. You can start the application process by creating your profile on Common App (www.commonapp.org). Your guidance counselor can upload the remaining required documents (2 letters of recommendation, high school transcript and SAT/ACT score). If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. Saludos desde Madrid, Tom Biedermann, Office of Admission
