At the age of 16 I came to America for the first time to attend Phillips Academy. I am very ambitious and confident. I often try things that people say I cannot do, and you know what, I often succeed. I have no living grandparents but my role model is my grandmother. Living in South Africa was hard for a black women years ago and my grandmother did it with finesse. I never settle for something that could be rated as second best. I never let people tell me what I cannot do. I know what I want and, being groomed at an institute like Phillips Academy, I know how to work hard to obtain it.
