Southwestern University

(Georgetown, TX)

Texas' First University
Southwestern's tree-shaded campus is everything you imagine when you dream about college, and then some. Tee off on the golf course or launch your career in two live performance theatres. Grand century-old limestone buildings radiate around the heart of campus, offering a spacious sports and recreational center, several research laboratories, as well as an observatory and a teaching greenhouse. Eighty-five percent of students live in residential housing on campus, which includes Internet, cable, voicemail and housekeeping service. Can you blame them? Southwestern University is a four-year, independent, undergraduate national liberal arts and sciences college consisting of The Brown College of Arts and Sciences and The Sarofim School of Fine Arts.

Attention, Not Anonymity
With a student to professor ration of 10:1 and an average class size of 14 students, you'll know your professors-and more importantly, they'll know you. It's not uncommon for Southwestern faculty to include students on collaborative research and publications.

A Stone's Throw From Austin
Live music, art shows, festivals: Georgetown, Texas, has a lot to offer, but if at the end of the day you're jonesing for a quick drive, Austin is only 26 miles/minutes away. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin is one of the country's top five "intellectual capitals," according to Fortune magazine. So, there's anecdotal proof that musicians are wicked smart!

Purposefully Green
Creating an "eco-community" is what we're all about. Initiatives include 100% "green" wind power for all electrical needs, an alternative transportation Pirate Bike Program, use of sustainable and recycled products, low-volume shower heads, and LEED certification on all new construction projects-and that's just scratching the surface.
