University of Southern Mississippi, founded in 1910, is a public, comprehensive institution. Programs are offered through the Colleges of the Arts, Business Administration, Education and Psychology, Health and Human Sciences, International and Continuing Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Science and Technology and the Institute of Marine Sciences. Its 1,090-acre campus is located in Hattiesburg, 90 miles south of Jackson.
