I am Santina, currently a senoir at IMSA.
Three words that best described me as a student: perseverance, hard-working, optimistic.
I don't have a blog, but I do have a google group for my origami club! Check it out~
My greatest wish is to become a surgeon before 30. I never give up and can be easily amused!
Extracurricular

- I have been playing flute since in third grade. In Taiwan, we have annual Chinese orchestra competitions, including group, smaller group, and individual. We practice hours everyday, and in the process we had developed a life-long friendship. I had a very
- piano lessons
- I have private piano lessons every week since I was very little. As a result of this continuous practice, I can play piano really well. I am planning to teach piano lessons this summer to earn some money for college.
- Origami
- I have been obsessed with origami since I successfully folded a paper crane in kindergarten. My parents bought all kinds of origami books for me as presents. Last year I chartered a new club called "Origami Infinity" so that I can share my interests with
- Violin
- Yes, I also play violin and I play in orchestra as well as outside of class. Due to some classes, orchestra could not fit into my schedule this year. Although my enthusiasm for playing violin is great and I really want to be placed into chamber orchestra
- Taiko
- Taiko is a Japanese drum, frequently used in ceremony. I learned how to play it two years ago in my temple. I go to weekly practice whenever I have time, and we play Taiko in many religious ceremonies.
- Free the Children- Burst the Bubble
- The members of Free the Children are currently designing a curriculum and seeking financial support for building a residential all-female school in Kenya. We want to raise the awareness of education in Kenya because most students do not receive education
- CMC:Conversational Madarin Club
- As a Taiwanese, I can read, write, and speak Chinese very well. Therefore, i have contributed to this club much as the project-heat. Last year in Lunar Year Show, for example, I played bamboo flute and many students and teachers were astonished by the awe
- AXON: We study brain
- We held lectures on neuroscience and invited speakers. We also have brain bee competition.
- Math Team: We exercise with our brains and pens
- We have practices, tryouts, and competitions on a regular basis. Competitions include: NSML, AMC, ARML, Mandelbrot, ICTM, USAMO, MIT math competition, etc. Last year we won the state competition. Horay!
- LORAX
- We have weekly discussion on the things we can do to make our community "greener". We made the recycle bin available in every dorm room. This year we are holding a conference and had invited many high schools representatives to join us. I really look forw
- National Honor Society
- The organization creates scohlarship and leadership. On of our main goal is to spread the awareness of leadership and community service in the middle schools. (I will update this portion as we go long.)
- Science Olympiad
- The subjects of my interests are herpetology, dynamic planet, health science, cell bio, disease, and other build events. I am currently a even leader of dynamic planet because I studied Earth Science last summer for IESO (International Earth Science Olymp
- Exodus
- We tutor refugee children every Wednesday night. Working with these students bring me joy because I learn to help the minority and work with students of different background.
- Volunteer at Sycamore Public Library
- I volunteered in Sycamore Public Library by shelving books, checking book numbers, etc.
- Shinnyo-En at Gohoshi
- Shinnyo-En is a Buddhist denomination. We have regular all members Gohoshi as a way to purify our heart through cleaning the temple and our surrounding areas.

- I tutor many science and math classes.
- Madarin Summer Camp
- Students who wished to learn Chinese or apply what they had learn went to this summer camp held in Taiwan. I was there as a assistance of the teacher and the students.
- Global Challenge Award 07-08

- Medical research
- I did a research on the effects of serotonergic cells on the sympathetic activities after excessive blood lost. It was an year long research (school-supported) in Loyola University. Average hour spent: 9 hours per week.
