I will be a professional writer, as I absolutely love to turn the plainest of words into sparks of wit. With this, I hope to spread knowledge even further and inspire people I have yet to meet.
My ecology teacher, who I get along with quite well, has agreed to let me take his teaching position upon his retirement.
I would also like to start a scholarship program that rewards volunteers, called Green Intellect.
Extracurricular
- Junior Varsity
- I was automatically promoted to Junior Varsity when I joined Academic Bowl. The coach knew of me, and was assured of my intelligence and allowed me to skip over the rank of Novice.
- Legislative Debate/Student Congress
- Create bills to debate with other debaters, called 'Senators". Spend hours every day research up to thirty topics, with no knowledge of which ones I will get to speak on. Review my team's speeches for flow, facts and wit.
- Varsity
- Involves a lot of free time studying, including practice questions, trivial pursuit and plenty of reading.
- Mock Trial
- Researched and through a mock trial on Susan B. Anthony.
- Students Environmentally Active
- Weekly collected and emptied recycling bins around the school, along with planning an Earth Day clean up and various other environmental activities. After the meeting, a go around the school grounds and collect discarded bottles and cans to be recycled.
- Peer Mentoring
- Met with a mentor weekly to go over different aspects of high school. Sat in on various clubs, athletic events and school sponsored activities. Met up on assigned study days before finals.
- Forensics
- Attend weekly practices. Give performances in poetry, prose and dramatic interpretation. Go to competitions during the weekends to show off all the hard work. Countless hours spent memorizing lines and getting my movements and expressions just right.
- Community Service Club
- Meet up bi-weekly to plan community service events. Activities include shoveling snow for the elderly, feeding the homeless, park cleanups and more.
- Student Annoucements
- Read school-wide announcements over the PA every week.
- Spectrum
- School literary and art magazine. Review all submissions; poems, short stories and artwork. Choose best submissions and compose magazine to be sold at end of the year.
- Diversity Club
- Meet bi-weekly to plan cultural events and charity drives.

- Encourage tolerance as part of the Gay Straight Alliance committee

- Reading tutor for first graders

- Scholarship Coordinator
- Organize list of scholarships to post on school's website. Spent hours researching scholarships for other students.
- PIF Mentor
- Mentored others in a plethora of volunteer opportunities.
- Solar Thermal Energy
- Researched solar thermal electric modules for Minnesota based Energy Users' Association. Help company switch to solar powered energy.
- Environmental Director
- Environmental Directors coordinate weekly or monthly cleanups and influence others to make a daily difference in their part of the earth.
- National Wildlife Foundation Ambassador
- Ambassadors enjoy speaking to others in their communities either by distributing information at booths and fairs or giving presentations to groups and clubs. Ambassadors receive training online.
- KidsAndCars volunteer
- Assisted in spreading the word about the organization, as well as the Chase Community Foundation contest. Helped KidsAndCars earn $25,000.
- Invisible Children Committe
- I am in charge of setting up tables at all of the Invisible Children Committee's events. I have also helped collect and count change and books in the Schools4Schools drive.
- American Red Cross
- Donated blood. Also was a Canteen Volunteer. I served those who donated blood their refreshments and made sure they were well.
- Kids Who Care Foundation
- Helped coordinate a walk-a-thon, for Pancreatic cancer and the children of Haiti.
