Rensselaer Polytechnic University is the oldest technological university in the country. Since 1824, Rensselaer has offered an intellectually rigorous undergraduate education that values innovation and forward-thinking scientific research that will benefit and better society. Our five signature research areas – biotechnology, computation and information technology, experimental media and the arts, energy and the environment, and nanotechnology – continue to move forward thanks to our talented faculty members and the diverse, bright student body who call Rensselaer home. Our students can enroll in a variety of interdisciplinary programs which reflect their varied interests. Whether in a laboratory, classroom, or studio, Rensselaer scholars are always committed to translating their technological discoveries to make sense in the marketplace.
