Randolph-Macon College was founded in 1830 and has a history of providing cutting-edge education to its students. As a selective, co-educational, national liberal arts and sciences college, R-MC's mission is to develop the minds and character of its students. Located in Ashland, Va., just 15 miles north of Richmond and 90 miles south of Washington, D.C., R-MC offers a broad academic foundation and provides numerous opportunities for individualizing your education. Students participate in groundbreaking programs such as the Schapiro Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program; national and international internship opportunities; numerous study abroad programs around the globe; and the college's innovative First Year Experience program. Our January Term allows our students to pursue many of these opportunities. We prepare students for successful careers and for the rigors of postgraduate education.About 25% of Randolph-Macon graduates go immediately to graduate school; over 50% do so within five years. Our graduates have carved out successful careers in politics, medicine, law, business, religion and the arts and are in leadership positions across the U.S. and the world. R-MC students are active. We offer over 100 organizations, including 15 Division III sports. About 90% of our students live on campus.Our admission process is selective, yet personal. We look at the whole student.
