I work one on one with teens and girls in a Spanish organization called La Barquita where I am the head volunteer I begin by preaching and teaching them about God and life and healthy habits. I love seeing the girls learn and grow and that encourages me to learn and grow. I really want to give back to the community! My mission in life is to succeed and give back as much as possible, I know how important volunteers can be.

- I am highly motivated, my mother encouraged me to put every effort into volunteering, cause people matter. She told me to get involved, and it will enrich my life and it has. The reason why this activity is important is that there are so many people who are homeless or down on their luck and just need a simple meal with no one judgment . I began to volunteer at the age of five so it is instilled in me to volunteer. I felt it was important to feed the homeless cause we have an increasing amount of homeless people, and families, and if I had become homeless I'd want someone to provide me a meal and help me out! For the dinner I got their the night before and we all clean the church. I helped wash and Set up tables, We clean dishes, and then we began to prepare food for the homeless, I then had to get there in the morning and set up the food tables and trays and everything required for everyone to eat, then I began preparing the bread and rolls, for the homeless men, women and children. Then we served them their food, and they enjoyed and we went around offering water, and soda, and juice to all of those who attended. It is a wonderful thing to see smiling faces as people smell and eat the delicious food being prepared for them. We had around fifteen to thirty volunteers, and I had brought with me my sister who also volunteered and helped serve food, We together with the other volunteers served around four hundred homeless people. I think that it accomplished quite a lot, not only did the homeless people get feed for the night, and were bought in out of the cold but they put a trust in us, that we aren't there to harm them or take away their freedom or to judge them in any way. If you asked me who benefited the most, I'd first say the homeless, but ultimately I benefited, I got to see not only how a little help goes a long way but I got to put myself in their position, all they want is comfortable place to rest their head, I realized in this setting that, it wasn't all about me and how I felt and how I wanted this and that, it was about helping and seeing someone who was struggling in life and just needed a break. I couldn't tell you how many people were directly affected, but I know that it has to be in the thousands, not only were all the volunteers affected, but the people two. I believe that we have a need and purpose, and this project has to continue into the future because without it, a lot of people will go hungry without it. I mentioned in the other paragraph how I get so much pride and joy and learning experiences. I learned it's not all about me, I learned that people need people, I also learned that it's not ok to judge someone on how they look, talk or act. I think what I learned most was that if we all try just a little, do a little hard work it always pays off in one way or another. I did learn a few new skills I learned to treat others with respect, I learned how to serve food and be great full, I learned about helping, weather preparing food, or taking out the trash, or serving one another not for profit or reward but because it makes you happy. I have some wonderful memories, especially seeing smiling faces, or working with the volunteers and getting to know them better in the process I liked how everyone seemed so content after they ate like everything was calm and relaxed and everyone was at peace. I would tell all young people, that no matter who you think you are, you will discover something about yourself you didn't know existed. I believe we all exist in this would for purpose, Our purpose to help all those who are in need, in which we help ourselves. I think if we can get past the fact of me! me! me! We truly will gain the world, Volunteering is just one way that I live out my purpose, If we truly believe in volunteering and helping all things on this earth then shouldn't we prove it.
