Oregon College of Art and Craft
(Portland, OR)
A Creative Community in Portland offering degree, certificate and individual classes for the public, young and old. OCAC is a place to learn how to think, not what to think, how to craft art, not what art to craft. It’s a place to develop a breadth of experience with different materials that is very rare in our age of specialization, yet extraordinarily useful in today’s ever changing art world. It’s that rare place where everyone’s views are valued, where careful and caring discussion and respect for difference are the guiding rules, not the exception. OCAC is an intentionally small, exceptionally student-centered art college gathering people from all over the country.

- 621Oregon College of Art and Craft AdmissionsHi Zayna- thanks for your interest in OCAC in Portland. We are a private non profit college so we only have one type of tuition charge (there is not in state or out of state charge like at public colleges). Our current tuition cost is $987/credit or $22,614 for full-time enrollment (24-30 credits) for one whole year. This is before any scholarships or federal financial aid. When someone applies they need to submit the portfolio digitally, so yes taking digital photos would be great. While you are building up your portfolio we always like to see work in person if its possible. You can see us when we are on the road in NY before you move. We'll be at two portfolio days in NY this fall- when the schedule is up you can grab the dates at www.portfolioday.net. Here are our portfolio requirements link on the web (see the right hand box). http://www.ocac.edu/#/Admissions/apply-now/portfolio-requirements/. You can also email us at admissions@ocac.edu directly with your info and we can send you a portfolio tip sheet and also a sheet on how to photography your work.

- 621Jessica, the strongest portfolios tend to be a combination between demonstrating a mastery of material(s) (i.e. charcoal, pastels, acrylic paints, pencil, clay, photography, etc.), and showing creativity/original thought in some of your works. We always balance technical with idea generation. You are welcome to email us at admissions@ocac.edu with your contact info so we can send you portfolio tips sheet. Here's a link for our portfolio requirements. http://www.ocac.edu/#/Admissions/apply-now/portfolio-requirements/
