Notre Dame de Namur University is a private, church-affiliated, liberal arts unviersity. Founded as a women\'s college in 1851, it adopted coeducation in 1969, and changed its name in 2002. Its 80-acre campus, located in Belmont, is the former summer estate of William C. Ralston and is listed as a National Historic Landmark.
