- Choir 2005 to Now
- Ever since my 6th grade year, Choral music has been a great passion for me. I have studied many genres and styles of music and have become proficient in sight-reading and general music theory. Being involved in middle school and high school choirs has also helped to shape my professional skills and taught me how to be a better person. With the education that I have earned from my participation in Choir, I hope to further my experience by studying Music Education in college.

- Barbershop Harmony Society Annual Workshop 2005 to 2011
- Every year, the Barbershop Harmony Society sends it's employees to travel all around the world, holding workshops for students ranging from middle and high school to college levels in specific counties. Choir members in these counties then have the opportunity to attend a challenging, and equally educational, one-day workshop in which anywhere from one to three or four quartets, which are chosen by the Barbershop Harmony Society, teach the attendees about how to sing with expression and life. These workshops are not only highly educational, but continuously fun and rewarding, offering the chance to meet new people, and have the opportunity to sing alongside them at the end of the day, in the hour-long concert in which the Men's, Women's, and Mixed Choirs all peform before a publically-invited audience. I, myself, have had the opportunity of attending these workshops seven times, once each year since middle school. I have thoroughly enjoyed the music and people behind this program, and I certainly hope to see more of the Barbershop Harmony Society in the future.

- FVA All-State High School Women's Honor Choir 2011 to Now
- For two years in a row, I have had the opportunity of auditioning for the Florida Vocal Association's (FVA) All-State Honor Choir as a Alto 1. The auditions are highly competitive, with the first round of the competition being the Written Exam, which is given to test auditionees' basic skills in aural and written music theory. The next piece of the audition is the Sight-Reading Exam. Only students who have passed the Written Exam with a score of 70% or higher have the opportunity to complete this exam. Those who have passed the Written then have the task of correctly reading up to 40 measures of unprepared sheet music, in keys such as C, G, and F Major, as well as d minor, in various key signatures. The minimum for passing this exam is 10 measures. Those students who haved passed both the Written and Sight-Reading Auditions then have the opportunity to prepare for the last part of the audition, which is known as the Vocal Audition. In this segment, singers are given the sheet music and audio recordings for nine separate pieces, one usually by Mozart, and many of them being either spiritual or contemporary. At the time of the audition, students are required to perform a few of the pieces for a pannel of judges. Which of the nine pieces will be chosen is not known until the day of the audition. The most recent changes that have been made to the audition process were on the Vocal Audition, in which now, students' recordings are sent to the judges, rather than auditionees being judged together with a small group. The All-State Competition has always been a unique one that is highly challenging, as well as very rewarding. This year, I am very excited to be a member of the 2012 FVA All-State High School Women's Honor Choir, which will be performing, "Ave Maria" by Guy Forbes, and, "Love Is A Rain of Diamonds," by Gwenyth Walker, along with other spiritual and contemporary pieces, in January of 2012.

- Florida Vocal Association Choral Solo and Ensemble 2007 to 2010
- Each year, the Solo and Ensemble Competition presents choral directors in middle and high school divisions with the opportunity to allow their students to excel in music study by preparing two pieces of their choosing, to be performed for a single judge on the day of competition. The Choral Solo and Ensemble convention accepts groups of ensembles ranging in numbers from 3 to 18 members, as well as many forms of soloists. These participants may choose two selections from a list of pieces ranging from Italian art songs to African-American spirituals. The groups or soloists then prepare the two pieces to be performed in front of a judge, and are scored on a familiar A/B concept grading rubric. The final scores of the participants are then converted to a Superior to Poor scaled rating. Since my 7th grade year, I have been participating in the Florida Vocal Association's Solo and Ensemble Competition. The first year I participated, 2007, our middle school ensemble received an rating of Excellent for our performance. The following year, I prepared for the competition a well-known Welsh carol entitled, "All Through the Night." This composition, arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram, I practiced every afternoon, in order to be ready for the day of competition. My performance was judged by one man, who showed me, after my performance, how to "pop" my diaphragm so that my vowels would sound more robust and therefore more meaningful. I, again, received an Excellent for this performance. The next time that I participated in Solo and Ensemble was with two other singers, who had been in Chorus with me in high school for a total of one year. These two performers were named Ashley Huber and Evan Osborne. Our ensemble decided to perform a version of the piece, "Dona Nobis Pacem," as well as a spritely rendition of "Kyrie," with Ashley singing the lovely Soprano, myself on a beautiful Alto part, and Evan holding the all-important Bass. The pieces proved to be equally as challenging as they were beautiful, and our group practiced at least twice a week for the performance. The day of the event, we arrived dressed in our school's colors, red, white, and blue, and were nervously excited for the time of our performance. We had trained hard, and were rewarded with a smiling judge and a strictly-graded rating of Superior for both pieces. This year, I plan to prepare a solo piece, most likely in Italian, for the competition, and, with much training and a lot of heart, I hope to receive a Superior rating for my performance.

- Santa Rosa All-County Middle School Honor Choir 2006 to 2008
- In my sixth grade year, in Beginning Chorus, I was given the opportunity to audition for the Santa Rosa All-County Honor Choir. All auditionees were required to sing two prepared pieces as a choir. One of the pieces were quick and upbeat, and the other was slower, and more expressive. Judges then walked throughout the chorus, and decided who, they thought, would be fit to attend All-County rehearsals, and to later perform before a large audience. The choir performed well, and I was chosen for the choir in my first year. I auditioned twice afterwards, and made the All-County Middle School Honor Choir each year.

- Santa Rosa All-County High School Honor Choir 2009 to Now
- Beginning in my Sophomore year, I have been given the honor of being a part of the All-County Honor Choir in Santa Rosa County for three years in a row. Members are typically chosen by auditions, then given the sheet music to study and practice in their own time before the concert performance. The choir is very formal, and only members with the utmost form of dignity and behavior are permitted to perform. I have thoroughly enjoyed being in these choirs, and will genuinely miss the experiences I have had with this organization.

- Christmas Handbell Choir 2008 to 2008
- During my Freshman year of high school, the Patriot Choir Christmas performance also included a handbell choir. I was on two very high-sounding bells, and the choir consisted on only 7-9 members. The choir performed, "We Three Kings Of Orient Are," a medley which "Joy To The World," and "Jingle Bells," and one other very fun Christmas piece. Our choir performed very well, and I certainly gained a lot of educational experience from being a part of it.

- Florida District 1 Choral MPA 2007 to 2008
- For two consecutive middle school years, I had the privelege of joining my choir in traveling to Georgia and Tennesse to attend the 2007 and 2008 Choral MPA (Music Performance Assessment) or "District" Festival, and earned an overall rating of Superior each time. The trips were highly exciting as well as engaging, as the choir got the opportunity to attend places like Six Flags and the Georgia Aquarium, as well as the Smokey Mountains while on the trips. I thouroughly enjoyed both of the trips, and I know that the experience from each has prepared me more for life and for college. Photos of each of the trip can be viewed in my Media section soon.

Honors & Awards
2 ribbons for "All A's" in a Middle School Chorus class,
4 medals for participating in the Santa Rosa All-County Choir,
a Director's Choice Award for the 2007-2008 school year,
and 2 medals for participating in the Florida Vocal Association's Solo & Ensemble competition, both of which performances were rated "Excellent" or better by a registered ajudicator selected temporarily by the Florida Vocal Association (FVA). The second year, I, along with our 2010 ensemble, was given a rating of "Superior" (or the highest attainable rating for a soloist or an ensemble) by a similar judge. These were all in progression throughout multiple school years and have had a lasting effect on my performance level so far.
Aside from Choir awards, I have always loved to attend school, in order to see and learn about all the different creatures and cultures that inhabit our world. Because of this passion, I have achieved the honor of "Perfect Attendance" at Pace High Shcool for 2 years running. I could not be any more blessed.
Finally, during the last semester of my 2010-2011 school year, I was awarded the opportunity to attend the 2011 Florida State Spanish Conference (F.S.S.C.) and performed a 2-minute speech in front of two native Spanish-speaking judges, who seemed very pleased with my performance. The Spanish Level 5's that attended the competition performed a play and also did an excellent job. They placed 5th in the overall play category, ranking us at 2nd in the state, and we were all very excited. I personally won a trophy for a "Sobresaliente," or, "Outstanding" score on my speech, and we all had a wonderfully thrilling time. It was a great experience that I certainly will never forget. iViva la escuela!
