University of North Carolina-Wilmington
The UNC at Wilmington is a public, comprehensive university. Founded in 1947 as a two-year institution, it became a four-year university in 1963 and joined the state system in 1969. Its 661-acre campus, with buildings of modified Georgian design, is located in the southeastern part of the state, 10 to 15 miles from several Atlantic coast beaches.
