The UNC at Wilmington is a public, comprehensive university. Founded in 1947 as a two-year institution, it became a four-year university in 1963 and joined the state system in 1969. Its 661-acre campus, with buildings of modified Georgian design, is located in the southeastern part of the state, 10 to 15 miles from several Atlantic coast beaches.

      via Lookout Books: Congratulations again to Edith Pearlman! Binocular Vision is this year's winner of the the Julia Ward Howe Prize, given by the Boston Author's Club. The award will be presented Wed., May 30 at 11a.m. in Conference Room A of the McKim Building of the Boston Public Library. Edith and the finalists will address the audience regarding their books.
