Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
-quote by Albert Einstein
First of all, I have to say that unlike many students, I have had an unusually strong academic record for all of my school career. However, I too want colleges and universities to see me for more than my test scores. I want you to see me for a person, not just an exceptional test score. I am involved in many activities, and have major leadership roles in three. Yes, it can be challenging to juggle my position as Drum Major in the marching band with my Captainship in Academic Derby, but I somehow manage to dedicate myself to my many activities in a way that I am not a hindrance to any. Without God, I definitely would not be able to get through an average week.
I love music. I have been playing the piano since the age of 3, and have had a drumset since I was 5. I started playing in the high school jazz and marching bands in 7th grade; have been to the Eastern-District-North Carolina All-District Band (Middle and High School) twice, both times as a mallet percussionist; and have been second chair mallet percussionist in the North Carolina All-State Band (High School). I am also in my third year of French, and am learning American Sign Language informally. I feel that the Lord is calling me to become a teacher to the underprivileged, but if that's not what He wants me to do later on, hey, I'll move. I participate in the annual Musical, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Concert Band in my high school. I also play percussion in my church's Praise Team (band). Aside from music-related interests, I am also in the Future Teachers of America, the Academic Derby (a team which answers Jeopardy-like questions against other teams), and the Foreign Language Club. I take the highest levels of Honors- and AP- classes, which means my GPA has never been below a 4.5. I have never had a grade below an 88/100 on a report card since the 5th grade. I also feel that I should aim my sights for the best education possible, not limiting myself to public or state universities.

Another award from the AWANA program I have received is the "Excellence Award" for completing two books. I was also the first student to receive the "Director's Award for Band" for Swansboro Middle School in the eighth grade. Another award was the "Outstanding Sophomore" award, given by the high school band director to me in 2011. I am in the National Society of High School Scholars as well as a member of the National Honors Society.
Specialties & Skills
First of all, I love music. I took piano lessons when I was three, and am now very involved with music. Not only do I love to perform music, I love to teach it! I also learn languages very easily; my mother started teaching my brother and I beginning Spanish when we were toddlers. I have and have had very high grades in all of my French classes. My dominant French teacher lived in Paris for 1 and 1/2 years, and visits France almost every summer, giving students from our school tours of the country. Another of my French teachers was raised in France, while another was raised in a French-speaking home. I am learning American Sign Language informally by watching a lady sign for our Deaf community in a church service at my church.

Recommendations
Centerview Baptist Church, Volunteer
"I have had the privilege of teaching Natasha in Sunday school, AWANA club and on Wednesday night Bible study. I have also had the pleasure of serving alongside her in minisistry opportunities that we have provided and those that we have participated in during summer camp, working fundraisers with pleasure, etc.. Natasha has been a dedicated member of our praise and worship band for a couple of years where she does a wonderful job helping lead worship. She is very committed and dedicated to any task set before her and I have watched her mature greatly over the past couple of years into a wonderful young lady...one who is learning to put God first in all her endeavors and one who is making very wise choices as she continues to grown in the Lord. She has just recently joined our Youth Advisory Coucil as a youth member and we consider her a great asset to our council. I would highly recommnend Natasha as a student for any school that she may apply and for any scholarship that she may be considered for. She dedicates herself to knowing what has to be done and does it and I would consider her again a great asset to any school and well worth a scholarship. Ms. Billie Cronan"
