U Missouri-Columbia, founded in 1839, is a comprehensive, public institution. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources; Arts and Science; Business and Public Administration; Education; Engineering; Human Environmental Sciences; and Veterinary Medicine; and the Schools of Health-Related Professions; Journalism; Law; Medicine; and Nursing; and the Graduate School. Its 1,377-acre campus is located in Columbia, 33 miles north of Jefferson City.
