McNeese State is a public, comprehensive university. Founded as a two-year division of Louisiana State University in 1939, it gained university status in 1970. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Business, Education, Engineering and Technology, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Science. Its 171-acre campus is located in Lake Charles, 80 miles west of New Orleans.

      Power to the south side of campus that includes Bel and Sallier Gardens, Gayle Hall, Gayle Hall Annex and the McNeese Credit Union will be out for approximately one hour on Tuesday (May 22) morning beginning at 6 a.m.

      This is necessary to disconnect all power to Burton Residence Hall so the demolition process can begin.

      There should be no impact to the other campus buildings. Power to the south side of campus should be restored after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
