  • Dave Murfin: 2012 Distinguished Alumnus
  • Dave Murfin is a recipient of the University of Kansas School of Business 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award. David Murfin graduated from the University of Kansas in 1975 with bachelor's degrees in business and engineering. While at KU, he served as president of Student Union Activities. He is president of Murfin Drilling Company Inc. Founded in 1926, the company ranked No. 1 in oil production in Kansas in 2008 and 2009. He is also chairman and CEO of Murfin Inc. Both companies are based in Wichita, Kan. with many diverse business operations. Murfin is a member of the KU School of Business Board of Advisors and a trustee for the university's endowment board.

  • Alan Mulally received one of the University of Kansas' first four honorary degrees at KU's 2012 Commencement on May 13 in recognition of his notable contributions to business and engineering. He also delivered the ceremony's keynote address. The president and CEO of Ford Motor Company, Mulally also holds bachelor's and master's degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from KU.
