Extracurricular
- Editor and Staff of School Newspaper
- I am rather fond of the First Amendment, and what better way to show it than through journalism? I love being a leader in my school paper, the Fleet Street News, but my true passion lies in the actual writing.
- Key Club
- I can always get really fun volunteering and community service opportunities through Key Club. Plus they feed us pizza sometimes.
- National Honor Society
- Like Key Club, NHS is really just a way for me to find service opps. I really, really love community service. Also, they feed us cookies sometimes.
- Girls Honor Club
- Girls Honor is another one of my buttloads of service resources. They are mostly about decorating for dances, but I joined for the perks of having more chances to do volunteer work. I'm not kidding when I say I love to volunteer!
- Drama Club
- My school is really big on musical theater, something I admire but don't really have the talent for. I had always wanted to be part of the production of something so magical, so I joined the ranks of the backstage stars. I worked as an award-winning crew
- Girl Scouts
- I was skeptical about joining, but I'm glad I did. Involvement in Girl Scouts turned out to mean more charity event planning and amazing adventures than selling cookies. I would have never gotten the opportunity to go camping, hiking, canoeing, or horseba
- The American Cancer Society
- Being part of the ACS is something I will most definitely do for the rest of my life. We do good work and have a good time doing it. We raise money, awareness, and hope - three very important things in the war against cancer.
- The American Cancer Society Committee
- I volunteer to work with the Greater West Division of the American Cancer Society, specifically with the Relay for Life event.
- Key Club events
- I do various work with my school's Key Club for my community. This has included environmental clean-up, services for children, tutoring, book drives, and food drives.
- Summer Musical Program
- I took part in my high school's summer production of Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella. For weeks, we rehearsed to be the opening act for the play. In voice lessons, I worked to overcome my natural voice, which makes people cringe and back out of the roo
- School Newspaper
- My position as editor of my school's Fleet Street News is my ultimate weapon. The newspaper has opened up a whole new world for me. While defending the First Amendment, I get opportunities to talk to all different kinds of people at my school about the is
