Holly Houston
Follow messageIt's hard to fit in a nutshell... So here are the main points. I'm going to become a reproductive endocrinologist. I won't ever smoke, drink or do drugs, that's just not my thing. I spent high school taking care of my grandmother, focusing on school, and trying new things. The only part of my 5 year plan that's solid is college, everything else can always change. I think the most joyous event in life is having a child and that's why I want to help people that can't. I'm still figuring out who I am, but I know what kind of person I want to be. I love anything that inspires me.
Extracurricular
- Acting
- I was so scared at first of being on stage and speaking in front of people, but when I registered for my sophomore year I took a chance and signed up for theater. I love it. It's amazing to become someone else; anyone you can dream of, there's a role out
- Dance 1
- Dance is a hobby of mine. So instead of taking PE my freshman year, I opted for Dance 1 instead. I don't regret it. I participated in 2 shows that year and enjoyed being on stage.
- Dance II
- I'm so glad I got back into dance. It's been about 3 years since I last took it so I wasn't sure if I would even be able to touch my toes anymore, much less complete turns. Now that I'm involved in it again I see that dance isn't an ability that one just
- City Softball Team -The Handbaggers
- As we were warming up for the first scrimmage (not even a real game!) I was hit in the face by a softball coming out of the palm of the best pitcher on our team. My first bloody nose, my first black eyes, but I still have yet to break a bone, haha. That w
- Yoga Club
- We've had 3 yoga meetings so far, and I really love it. It's more of a workout than you'd expect but I know that it's really good for strengthening and toning. I'm not doing yoga for it's spiritual benefits, but I'm definitely interested in gaining some o
- Performed in showcase.
- At the end of the year my theatre 2 class put together a showcase. Some students wrote, some directed, some acted, and I did all three.
- Took care of cancer patient
- During the semester that I took off of high school in 2007, I frequently went over to my Grandmother's house to take care of her. She was dying of cancer.
- I'm not sure if this is considered volunteer work or not...
- But it meant a lot to me so I'd like to mention it. Our school just had a blood drive and I was so excited to find out that you only have to be 17 to donate. I plan on going 2 more times this year.
- Participated in KRYPTO games.
- At Silverado High School we had a KRYPTO team; KRYPTO is a mathematical card game. My geometry teacher gave the class the chance to try the game and I discovered it came naturally to me so I was offered a place on one of the teams. KRYPTO was a lot of fun
- Wrote/directed a scene for performance
- Writing a scene was a lot of work, I had to try to see what I was writing from the audience's perspecitve and make sure they would understand everything that was going on. Directing it was fairly easy until my group stopped working and I had to find a way
Experience
- Ice Cream Maker ?
- Cold Stone Creamery
- Have you ever been to a Coldstone? If not, go to one sometime soon. It's the only ice cream place I know of that will mix items into ice cream right in front of you. Working here has taught me a lot about customer service. I have to make sure I portion th

- Movies:
I'm a sucker for comedies, I just love to laugh. I also really like action, chick flicks, and Disney movies. Yes, even as a teenager, Disney rocks. I really love those inspirational stories that give me goosebumps.
- TV Shows:
I like Gossip Girl right now... But I'm not really hooked on anything else. It seems like a waste to me to sit in front of the TV all the time. I'd rather be dancing or reading or rollerblading, to be honest.
- Music:
I like anything I can sing to. The areas that I sometimes don't like include jazz, rap, and screamo... But almost every other type of music is fair game. My favorite music changes from time to time, it just depends on where I am in life and what song affe
- Websites:
ZINCH!!! & Myspace, of course, but my friends are all people I know in person. I also like Yahoo Answers, sometimes it's more helpful than google. And I'm probably the only student who checks her grades daily on parentlink. =P
- Quotes:
"Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain."
"Be kind to everyone you meet they're fighting a battle you know nothing about."
"No one has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold." - Books:
I have way too many favorites to fit them all in this tiny space. I love mystery, romance, inspirational, sci-fi, real life, and even a lot of classical novels. My favorite author is probably Janet Evanovich; she's written more than 20 novels and I love t
