  • On a gorgeous Sunday morning, 182 undergraduates and 71 graduate students received their degrees at Hollins University's 170th Commencement Exercises, held May 20, 2012. Here are just a few of the day's highlights, starting with the gathering on Back Quad to begin the procession through Main Building, followed by the ceremony on Hollins' historic Front Quadrangle, and concluding with the Hollins faculty's salute to the class of 2012 in front of the Cocke Memorial Building and the celebration with family and friends.

We are honored Elizabeth Brownlee Kolmstetter '85 will be the guest speaker at our 170th Commencement this Sunday at 10 a.m. Currently serving with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Kolmstetter was the FBI's first chief of personnel assessment and research and the agency's first-ever industrial-organizational psychologist. After 9-11 she was directly responsible for establishing and managing the new standards and hiring system at the Transportation Security Administration that

As a prelude to our 170th Commencement Exercises this Sunday, Hollins will hold a Baccalaureate Service on Saturday at 3 p.m. in duPont Chapel. This interfaith service of blessing will feature readers, musicians, dancers and speakers from the class of 2012 as well as the Hollins staff and Board of Trustees. It will be an opportunity for reflection, celebration, inspiration and sharing memories. All are warmly invited to attend and share in this special time.
