Follow messageI am a science geek and a band nerd. No one has more school pride than me. I'm a gopher hockey fanatic and a leader in the University of Minnesota Marching band. I'm a lab rat and plan on being one for the rest of my life. I can't wait until I publish my first paper.
Extracurricular
- High School Math Team
- We compete in math competitions in our region. In my junior year, I was on the team that made 10th in state.
- Marching Band
- Our band practices, then performs pieces of music and choreography that fits the music.
- Jazz Band
- I play electric bass guitar in my high school's jazz bands.
- Pep band
- We play songs as the pregame show and in-between periods of high school sports such as basketball and hockey.
- Knowledge Bowl
- We work together as teams to answer a variety of questions. The team with the most points wins the meet.
- All-Conference Band
- The top musicians from my school's conference are chosen to be in this gorup.
- All-State Band
- The top musicians in the state are selected by audition to be in this ensemble.
- Wind Ensemble
- The top musicians of the school make up this ensemble.
- Woodwind Choir
- The top woodwind musicians make up this ensemble.
- Peer Leader
- We give tours and introduce the freshman to the school every year. We also help run 5th grade retreats where we play games with the kids and talk to them about bullying and being kind.
- C-team Tennis
- I played 1st doubles freshman year and 3rd singles sophomore year on my school's C Tennis team.
- JV Tennis Team
- I played 4th doubles on my school's JV Tennis team.
- Senior Class Committee
- We are a group of seniors who chose to help plan the school's blood drive, boat dance, senior t-shirt sales, and many other events. The purpose of this group is to merely help out the school.

- I do various volunteer work totaling 20 hours my first year and 40 hours including a senior project my second year.
- Junior Volunteer Program at University of Minnesota Hospital
- I have been in a 2 gift shops, a day care, an office, and a front desk.

- I led a Sunday school class. I did activities with them and made sure they were paying attention when we had guest speakers. I am proud of this because I never had the chance to go to Sunday School.
- All-State Band
- I auditioned for and made the all-state band in Minnesota. I was required to attend a summer band camp and also a rehearsal and concert at orchestra hall in February.

- Marching Band
- I led underclassmen and taught them how to march. I was responsible for them to know the music and be able to march. My rank also got two awards for being the best rank.

- The Pride of Minnesota. We practice/perform over 500 hours every fall while only receiving 2 credits for all that we do. Instead of just being a student at the University of Minnesota, this helps be actually be a part of the University.

- I keep notes of the meetings and take care of all things money-related. The organization does service projects for the band and the community.
