Green Mountain College
Green Mountain College is different from most colleges because environmental awareness is included in every aspect of its liberal arts education.
Experiential learning is also central to a GMC education: Students gain hands-on experience through internships, service-learning opportunities and study abroad programs.
The campus community is a tight-knit group of about 800 students from 33 states and 19 countries. Most students live on campus, and the average class size is about 15 students.
Green Mountain is located in Poultney, a quintessential New England village located in the heart of the southern Vermont lake district. The 155-acre main campus is right in the middle of some of the best outdoor recreation in the east. And three major urban hubs-New York, Boston, and Montreal-are within a few hours' drive.
GMC is also nationally recognized for academic excellence and its attention to the individual needs of students. The College is included in The Princeton Review's The Best 371 Colleges and in Colleges of Distinction, a guide identifying schools that earn high marks for an engaged student body, great teaching, and successful outcomes.
