The University of Georgia, founded in 1785, is a public university. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Journalism and Mass Communication, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine; the Schools of Environmental Design, Forest Resources, Law, and Social Work; the Graduate School; and the Center for Continuing Education. Its 605-acre main campus is located in Athens, 80 miles east of Atlanta.
