me in a nutshell? well, i like to laugh. a lot. and smile when i'm not laughing. i'm chinese american and can technically get a handicap sign for my car because i'm only 4'10". my secret wish is to be amazing at sports, but unfortunately, i'm athletically challenged. i like to spend time with my family and friends but meeting new people makes me nervous. my greatest fear is that i'll hit someone or something while driving. that and that i won't get into college. which is why i joined this zinch thing. so, that's basically meee! :D
Extracurricular
- help elementary school students
- once a week, i go to my old elementary school after school and help kids with their homework or play games with them.
- Class Office
- i've been VP of my class for the past 3 years. i generally help set up bake sales and other fundraisers and plan prom.
- orchestra
- i played the flute in my school's orchestra.
- marching band
- when scheduling conflicts didn't allow me to take orchestra or band class, i joined marching band, an extracurricular activity. i absolutely loved learning drills and competing.
- Building with Books
- this is my favorite activity. bwb is an organization that builds schools in third world countries. i was fortunate enough to be selected to travel with a group of other students to mali, africa for a two week trip. while there, we lived in a village and h

- i like math so i joined the math team. we compete against other schools in connecticut.
- track
- i ran for my school's track team in the 800 m race.
- red cross
- i'm part of the stamford chapter's youth corp and am currently treasurer.
- Tri-M Music Honor Society
- As a music honor society, we try to help spread music in our schools and community.
- Summer Reading Club
- i volunteered at my local library with the summer reading club be logging the books that the children have read.
- bennet cancer walk
- i help set up the bennet cancer walk in my city every year by blowing up balloons, hanging up signs, etc.
- church
- i play in my church's youth ensemble. we play during mass every month.
- CTY Summer Program
- i attended 3 week long summer programs sponsored by JHU during which you take a course at various campuses. one summer, i took math logic and reasoning at sienna college. another summer i took probability and game theory at franklin and marshall.
- BizCamp
- Another program sponsored by CTY. It was a one week long camp at JHU during which i learned about business practices and how to start a business. In the end, the campers were split into group and we had to pitch a business we came up with using what we le
- Goldman Sachs Leadership Development Institute
- I spent 3 days with other students learning about leadership styles and how to be an effective leader.
- BwB Trek for Knowledge
- BwB sends groups of students involved in the afterschool program on treks to Mali and Nicaragua to help build schools. I travelled to Mali, Africa to help with the construction of a school in a village there. We lived with the villagers and worked besdie
- Building with Books
- Service is one of the core values of the club. I find services for our members to participate in and volunteer opportunities for them to pursue.
- Class Office
- We basically raise money for our senior prom and plan both our junior and senior proms.

- As historian, i put together our monthly newsletter, The Musical Note.
