New College of Florida Class of 2013
Nose in a book, heart on sleeve, always on the run
I was born with a cleft palate and lip right after the fall of the USSR. It is difficult to escape an identity constricted by that, but somehow, through writing, running, and volunteering I manage that. I spend more time in the library than in my bed, but I take part in the social aspects of my school as well, from German club to the soccer field. Learning is my biggest hobby and homework my full-time job. Attending college allows me to do both without boundaries. I am characterized by my tolerance for others, and the wisdom I have gained from my experiences. I am more than a test score.

Specialties & Skills
I make a mean batch of extra dark brownies, and I paint watercolors for fun, but I am also a writer and a thinker. I do most of my deepest thinking while out on the road, running anywhere from three to thirteen miles. Yet I juggle soccer balls too, participating in pick-up games even if I don't have shoes on. I am extremely interested in different cultures and translation studies. My studies lead me to believe more and more that world peace is the norm, but nothing is normal. Thus I try to listen to people, and at least spread peace in my own circle of happenstance.
