I really like to swim. I've been on the city team for about 9 years. I am a division II swimmer really close to DI. I also love to write.I carry around a notebook in case something inspires me. I love reading. I read about a 2 books a week. I do really well in school. I love to learn. I am really involved in the community. I was in a program called Youth in Government. We got a C.A.O. passed in our community. It was a big thing. I'm addicted to music. I love it. I play the trumpet in band and the piano just because. I am also involved in Science Olympiad, Art guild, Scholor's Bowl, ect.
Extracurricular
- Art Guild
- It's a club dealing entirely of art. We fund raise for a scholorship for art majors. We go to art workshops ie raku every year. We recently did a mural of Mother Goose stories in the children's room of the library. We also take care of art inside the scho
- City Swim Team
- It's a swim team. I swim four days a week for an hour and a half each day. I help the younger members of the team acting kind of like an assistant coach. I compete in at least one meet a month and have qualified for DII's for four years.
- Varsity Scholar's Bowl
- Quiz bowl team at the school. I am on the varsity team. We've medaled and done very well that past two years.
- Debate
- The topic was alternative energy incientives. Plan on doing it the rest of my high school career. Made it to state this year. (Novice Year) We went 3-3.
- CIA
- Foriegn language club. Fun. Had parties with themes of different parties. Talked about current events in different countries around the world.
- Youth in Government
- A city ran organization that deals with the city government. The students do a service project and attend a certain number of city meetings. It's really intriguing. There are confrences that they elect students to represent them at. Our greatest achievmen
- School Muscial
- Our musical is very fun. THe directors are very good. We did Seusical freshman year and my sophmore year (didn't do) Bye Bye Birdie. Both very intense and fun. Junior year we did Once upon a Mattress
- School Play
- Not as great as the muscial but still fun all around. Doesn't have as much publicity
- Lessons (piano)
- Been taking lessons for several years. Love Bethoven and Bach. Also play more modern pieces.
- Band
- Been playing trumpet since 5th grade. In the school marching, pep, and concert band. I play 4th chair.
- Spanish Club
- It's the first year having an actual spanish club. We are planning a trip to Chicago and take trips to see flaminco dancing and such
- Make a Difference Day
- National day of service. Gathered supplies from walmart ect. Then Empty Bowls fundraiser and other activites we had that day
- Clean Air Ordinence
- A smoking ban for the city of Ottawa. Bans smoking in public places exempting bars and some work offices.
- Take it Back
- A program grant that helps educate people about underage drinking.
- volunteered through youth auction
- our church had a youth auction. Three friends and I cleaned up an elderly ladies yard and painted her arbor
- Make a Difference Day
- interviewed vetren at local VFW. Made a powerpoint to corrilate with information.
- Finding Yourself Art Class
- A fun class where you basically just had fun doing the art. We learned about blind contour line drawing and different collage styles.
- K.U. Swim Clinic
- Went to a stroke clinic with the K.U. swim coach. Worked on technique learned a lot
- Mural
- Painted a mural in the Ottawa Public library for the Children's room
- Write It
- A writing class that had different techniques such as random words from the dictionary that you had to use and methods of taking pictures and turning it into a story.
- Science Olympiad
- I take the minutes of the meeting. And help the others with their jobs.
