From the very start, Andrews University has placed serious scholarship, quality research and a strong focus on practical Christianity first on the list of things we think are important about attendance at a Christian university. We started out small. Mr. Bell, a teacher, started a tiny school with only twelve students in Battle Creek, Michigan. This was the birth of what we now know as Andrews University. Today, Andrews is the best-known Adventist educational institution in the world.

Campus Size: 1600 acres Location: In or near a rural community (pop. under 5,000) Population: 0 Location description: Natural beauty is one of those things you can never quite run out of on the campus of Andrews University. Each of the four seasons transforms our 1600 acre campus, situated beside the St. Joseph River in the heart of the Midwest fruit belt. We’re proud of the fact that our campus is an arboretum with 500 labeled trees. And no one complains about the fact that we are 12 miles away from the beaches of Lake Michigan. Who could when sandy beaches, excellent canoeing and sailing are a part of local life? The Andrews Campus has 27 instructional buildings, 3 residence halls, 4 apartment complexes, an astronomy observatory, a produce and dairy farm, a 50,000-watt FM radio station, two eateries, three museums and an air park. The Howard Performing Art Center, our newest campus addition, houses a performance hall built for acoustic perfection. The James White library gives students access to approximately 1.5 million pieces of print and electronic material, the largest collection of research materials in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Center for Adventist Research, located in the library, is a great resource to learn more about the roots of this university.

My old high school school teacher used to teach at Andrews! Farrell Gilliand. He was an amazing teacher! He truly showed just how well the University's professors really are!
