The College at Southeastern

The College at Southeastern began in 1994 as the undergraduate school for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Southeastern opened its doors in 1950 with a relative handful of students and a mandate to train ministers for churches all over the east coast of the United States. In the nearly sixty years since then, our student body has grown considerably and our reach has expanded across the entire globe. However, Southeastern's heart to train Great Commission-minded ministers in the Gospel has not changed.

In the case of The College at Southeastern, "minister" does not just mean pastor. While Southeastern equips students for pastoral ministry, we also equip missionaries, counselors, teachers, youth pastors, and more who spread the Gospel across the street and around the world. We do this through our flagship program, the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies, which includes a number of options for a second major or a minor, or even two minors. We also offer two associate degree programs including the Associate of Divinity degree, which features foundational courses for excellent pastoral training.

Famous Alumni

Alan Bandy—Dr. Bandy is the Rowena R. Strickland assistant professor of New Testament. Dr. Bandy completed his Ph.D. at Southeastern and while here served as the assistant director of Ph.D. studies. Dr. Bandy is a published author and accomplished biblical scholar.

Voddie Baucham – Dr. Baucham is an accomplished author and speaker on apologetics and family ministry. Dr. Baucham completed his Doctor of Ministry at Southeastern and continues to serve Christian community through his preaching and writing ministry.

Dennis Darville – Mr. Darville is the Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at Southeastern. Prior to coming to Southeastern Mr. Darville found success in the golf industry, serving with companies such as Ping, Ashworth, and Greg Norman, respectively. Having completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at Southeastern, Mr. Darville is a prime example of how one should wed together business and the Christian faith.

Scott Forrester – Scott Forrester is the Vice – President of Shechem Industries in Buford, GA. Mr. Forrester completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Southeastern before assuming his current role. Mr. Forrester and Shechem industries are paving the way for Christian leadership and business development.

J.D. Greear – Dr. Greear is the lead pastor of the Summit Church in Durham, NC. The Summit Church is one of the fastest growing churches in U.S. Dr. Greear is also a successful author and exceptional theologian. Dr. Greear completed his graduate and doctoral degree at Southeastern.

Amber Lehman – Ms. Lehman is the CEO of Pregnancy support services of Wake Forest. She is a certified executive life coach from coach U. Ms. Lehman is a two time graduate of Southeastern completing both here B.A. and a M.A. in Ethics.

Christina Middleton – Ms. Middleton is the executive director of the Wilson Pregnancy Center. Prior to serving for the WPC Ms. Middleton served as the director of Women’s Studies for Southeastern. Ms. Middleton is a two time graduate of Southeastern completing both her B.A. and M.Div.

Every Southeastern student pursuing a four-year degree is enrolled in our Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies program, which includes a rigorous core curriculum highlighted by our History of Ideas component. Students then choose from a number of options for either a second major, a minor, or two minors.
