  • Student Combines Philosophy and Greek to Pursue Dream
  • Dillon MacDougald chose the College of Charleston because it offered a minor in ancient Greek. He has taken every Greek course offered and combined those studies with his interest in philosophy. Students who pursue a minor in Ancient Greek will read in the original language writings central to the development of Western Civilization. The intensive study of Ancient Greek complements majors in the Sciences, History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies (among others), and offers a focused study of the Liberal Arts traditions. Since the founding of the College in 1770, Classics has been a core component of the undergraduate curriculum. Currently, the Department of Classics offers two undergraduate majors -- the AB degree for students interested in Greek and Latin language, and the BA degree for students who are primarily interested in Greek and Roman culture and civilization.
