College for Creative Studies (CCS)

The College for Creative Studies is located in Detroit’s Cultural Center and New Center areas and offers Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degree for students with ambitions of careers in the world of fine arts and design. The College strives to give students all the tools for successful careers in the dynamic, growing creative industries. Students work in small classes and receive individual attention from superb faculty who are practicing artists, scholars and industry professionals. Undergraduates declare their majors as freshmen and take both major studio and foundation courses in their first year. Facilities are unsurpassed, ranging from a blacksmithing shop to an advanced rapid prototyping lab. Student services provide a support outside the classroom, including academic advising, mentoring, counseling, and tutoring. Students’ potential for success after college is enhanced by an effective Career Services office that assists with internships and job placement and has relations with numerous corporations that employ our graduates and sponsor projects in our studios. A strong alumni network helps students with the transition to the working world. CCS’s graduate design programs have a special business focus and are offered in collaboration with the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Media City Film Festival, international film and video art festival. On Thursday, CCS Entertainment Arts Assistant Professor Scott Northrup will debut his short "Vanishing Acts." Also showing are May 2012 Entertainment Arts graduate Rhonda Rudnick's "The Last Friday in April" and CCS junior Gerald McKay's "Glisten and Listen." Popular Mechanics is featuring the designs of CCS students in the senior Transportation Design studio class. The students were tasked to design a 2025 Lincoln with seating for four or more. Check out their incredible concepts here:

Congratulations to the winners of the 3rd annual WardsAuto Interiors Design Competition! They had the task of conceiving an interior for a small CUV with dimensions similar to a Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass or Nissan Juke. They came up with some really interesting concepts, read more here:
