My ultimate goal is to become a successful Medical Scientist, which will require a doctoral degree; I will use scholarships to help pay for my tuition to achieve this goal. I was just laid off of my job as a Library Assistant at the Health Sciences Library, and I am having difficulties finding another job. The odds of me completing college without going into a plethora of debt have become even slimmer. I was a high school Valedictorian, and I currently have a 4.0 after my first year at the University of New Mexico (UNM). I also graduated with Honors in high school, and I am currently in the Honors Program at UNM. I have applied to many scholarships, but to no substantial avail; even at my academic standing, I am still paying full in-state tuition to pursue my dream. I know that I can make a difference, but I am running out of the financial resources to do so. Scholarships can give me the opportunity that I need to achieve my goals.
