Boston University (BU)
Boston University is a world-recognized, private, teaching and research university committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Students study with distinguished faculty that include Fulbright Scholars, Pulitzer Prize winners, MacArthur Fellows, Nobel Prize winners, and a former Poet Laureate. In nine undergraduate schools and colleges, BU offers students more than 250 programs of study, cutting-edge research with faculty mentors, internships in the U.S. and abroad, and one of the nation’s most extensive study abroad programs. Housing is guaranteed for four years in a variety of on-campus residences, including high-rise buildings and historic browstones. BU students are engaged with their campus community through nearly 500 student organizations, club and intramural sports, and 23 NCAA Division-I sports teams. Students experience the city of Boston as an extension of campus for study, internships, employment, and cultural and recreational activities. BU requires freshman applicants to take the SAT and two SAT Subject Tests. Students may submit the results of the ACT (with writing) in lieu of the SAT and SAT Subject Tests. Students applying to the Accelerated Medical or Dental Programs are required to submit Subject Tests in chemistry, math (level 2), and a foreign language (recommended). Candidates for the College of Fine Arts must present a portfolio or participate in an audition.
