Hey! I’m Aly and I’m from Santa Barbara, California. I’m currently living in Durham, North Carolina as a freshman at Duke University where I work in the athletics department and play basketball in my spare time. I love Duke and have never been happier in my life than I am here! Life. is. good. :)

- Starting Center
- Varsity Basketball Team 2007 to 2011
- I have been on the varsity basketball team at my high school since the middle of my freshmen year when I was moved up from jv after one of the players was injured. I am the starting center and one of the leaders on the team.
- Junior Varsity Volleyball Team 2007 to 2010
- I was on the frosh/soph volleyball team my freshmen year and the junior varsity volleyball team my sophomore and junior years.
- Mu Alpha Theta 2008 to Now
- I became a member of Mu Alpha Theta as a junior. Members of Mu Alpha Theta, can participate in math competitions on the local, state, and even national level. This year, I have already competed in 3 national competitions but unfortunately, have not placed.
- Associated Student Body (ASB) 2008 to 2010
- I was my class president for both my sophmore and junior years.
- Bishop Ambassadors 2008 to Now
- The purpose of Bishop Ambassadors is to "sell" our school to the public. For example, we work at all the Open Houses by giving tours and answering any questions that prospective students might have. We also have prospective students shadow us to get a feel for our school.
- Track & Field Team 2007 to 2010
- I was a member of the track team my freshmen year, but I quit my sophomore year in order to play club basketball. However, I have decided to participate again this year. I compete in the 800, the long jump, and the tripple jump.
- Interact Club 2009 to Now
- This year, my school opened a an Interact Club chapter on campus. Interact Club is the high school level of the Rotary Club. Each high school can open up a chapter and can work directly with a member from the Rotary Club branch from the city on various service projects.
- Volunteer Around Campus 2007 to Now
- All members of ASB are required to do 80 additional hours of service (besides the 25 hrs/year required of every student by the school). Theses hourrs come from working/planning events, making signs, etc.
- YMCA Summer Camp 2007 to 2007
- YMCA Counselors in Training (CITs) work at the summer camp by watching all the kids, making snacks, teaching kids about sun safety, helping the Counselors, organizing games and crafts, etc. I was a CIT during the summer going into my freshmen year.
- Project Santa 2007 to 2011
- Every class at our school "adopts" 2 families in need and buys Christmas presents for all the members of the family. Then volunteers deliver the presents to the families a week before Christmas. I have participated in Project Santa all of my years at Bishop.
- National Leadership Summit 2009 to 2009
- This summer, I traveled to Washington DC and attended the Lead America National Leadership Summit. It was one of the most amazing exeriences of my life, and I am DEFINITLY not just saying that. I learned a lot about our government system and politics along with my passion for law.
- Varsity Cheerleading 2010 to 2010
- I joined the cheerleading squad just to try something out of my comfort zone. I've always been an athlete but not much of the dancing type. It turns out that cheerleading is actually really hard, but I had a blast trying something new!
- Santa Barbara Junior Miss 2010 to 2010
- Santa Barbara Junior Miss is a scholarship competition that is an extension of the America's Junior Miss pageant. Contestants were judged on fitness, academics, self-expression, talent, and an interview.

Honors & Awards
This year, I was a National Merit Commended Scholar and a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. I am also in my fourth year as a member of CSF and my second year as a member of NHS. Last year, I received the Presidential Award of Academic Excellence. In athletics: This year I won the Team Motivator Award for the Varsity Cheer Squad and the Coach's Award for my Varsity Basketball team. Last year, I won the team MVP on my junior varsity volleyball team. For the last two years in a row, I was an All-League Honorable Mention team selection and this year I was an First-Team All-CIF selection. Every year since freshmen year I have made the Principal's Honor Roll (which requires a 4.0 GPA or higher) and have been a Scholar Athlete (which requires a 4.0 GPA and participation in at least two sports).
