U Alabama is a public institution. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, and Human Environmental Sciences; the School of Social Work; and Capstone College of Nursing. Its 1,000-acre campus is located in west central Alabama, 50 miles southwest of Birmingham.
