Hi, I'm also currently a senior and I was curious to know whether or not there are any additinal scholarships that prospective students can apply to. Would you also happen to have information about Nursing, as well as any additional programs that one can apply to? Thank you --Ayana Britt

Hi Ayana! Our scholarships are based on a combination of academic achievement seen through your high school GPA and scores on either the ACT or SAT. There is no separate application - just by applying, students are considered for these awards. This link will show you all of our programs: http://academics.adelphi.edu/ugprograms.php For nursing specific information, check out this link: http://academics.adelphi.edu/nursing-undergrad.php Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello, I'm a highschool Senior at the academy of arts and academics in Springfield, Oregon. I am not going to be able to graduate this year, due to a lack of credits, but I will be finishing up my credits next year and most likely attending Lane Community College to lock up some College Credits. When I left my previous school as a junior I had a 1.6 GPA, but ever since I came to A3, I've had excellent grades and plan to continue to have excellent grades throughout my remaining time here. I have yet to take the SATs or ACTs until I finish my credits. I was wondering if you could tell me what I might need to do in order to attend your college in the fall a few years from now, or even what my chances are of getting accepted. Thankyou. --Emily Ocean

Hi Emily! Thanks for reaching out to me... Being that you would be attending a local community college, we would no longer classify you as a freshman but rather as a transfer student. We have different criteria set aside for transfer students based on the work you complete at the college level. I would encourage you to check out some of our transfer information by following this link: http://admissions.adelphi.edu/transfer/ If you have any questions or want to chat a bit further about your situation, feel free to call me or email me: 516.877.3021 or kcollins@adelphi.edu. Best of luck to you!

Of the 4,939 undergrad students, what percentage would be music majors? For the music program, I understand that an audition is required, but is there a specific repetoire you're looking for? Also, how generous is Adelphi in regards to financial aid? How many different scholarships are there for students attending Adelphi? Is scholarship money given when a student is enrolled under any of the scholar programs?
  • 3431
We have roughly 83 members of our music program. It's small size allows for intimate instructions and perfection of technique. As part of the audition process, students even have the opportunity to see classes first hand! Details about the audition process and what is required can be found here: http://academics.adelphi.edu/artsci/pfa/music/ ...As far as scholarships and aid, we offer merit-based scholarships that range from 6K to full tuition and are based on SAT and GPA achievement. We also offer talent scholarships based on departmental recommendations once a student completes his or her audition. Financial aid is given based on need after a student has filled out the FAFSA form and deemed eligible for aid. More information about scholarships and aid can be found here: http://ecampus.adelphi.edu/sfs/

What is the acceptance rate for the Nursing program at Adelphi? Also, if you have experience in health professions (I go to a health professions high school that prepares us for nursing school) can it help your chances of getting in?
  • 3431
I don't have an exact percentage for acceptance into the Nursing program but if you meet our traditional criteria for admission (strong essay, strong rec letter(s), 3.0 GPA, 1500 SAT, solid curriculum, etc.) then chances are likely that you will be accepted as a Nursing major. The process for acceptance is a holistic review and takes everything into account including the type of high school a student is graduating from as a senior. Hope this helps!

what GPA is required to get into the school?
  • 3431
It's a pretty comprehensive review so all factors are taken into account when we review for an admissions decision. To give you a ballpark number, we generally look for at least a 3.0 GPA (about an 83% out of 100%/B average). Hope this helps!
