When life throws you a curve ball, throw it back!
The education I have received has been at home and has had a highly academic focus, conducted in a biblically-based atmosphere which was supplemented with participation in an academic co-op weekly. Participation in activities has included speech and debate, dance, choir, worship team, drama, skiing, orchestra and band. Additionally, SAT scores, along with my transcript earned me a nomination and membership to the “National Society of High School Scholars and “Math National Honor Society” (Mu Eta Sigma). Although I am a Christian now in a stable environment, my life has not been easy to this point. My faith in God has been the source of my strength. Sometimes life throws you difficult circumstances, but those hardships can be used to make you into a stronger person. At the age of 7, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Sick for most of my life, thankfully I could adjust my diet significantly and treat a majority of the symptoms. At the age of 13, my father was removed from our home. He had sexually abused myself and my siblings. Later a divorce and financial difficulties from court and single parenthood for my mom ensued. If it had not been for my mom’s faith and courage, we would probably still be in our former circumstance. It is my hope that I can help others who have suffered similarly, either from health or emotional issues, which is one reason why I am pursuing a career in nursing. No matter what has happened to you in the past, you do not have to be a victim, but can help make someone else’s life better. I believe that who you say you are should really be how you live. This is one reason why I serve at my church weekly and also have served on a mission trip this year. Learning is a privilege and I hope to be able to grow further as a person at a university so that I can contribute to our society and help others.
