  • Application Overview:
    • Completed Application
    • Essay of no more than 500 words on the following topic: Using one of the leadership roles or extracurricular activities you prioritized as being important to you, describe what impact the experience had on you, what you contributed, what you learned about yourself, and how it has influenced your plans for the future
    • Official Transcript of Grades including a list of seventh semester classes
    • SAT and/or ACT scores taken before November 15
    • Counselor Report in a sealed envelope
    • Copies of Exhibits (optional): up to 10 pages of exhibits of achievement in scholarship, leadership, athletics, dramatics, community service or other activities

    Take application to your local Lodge on or before the deadline. If you are selected to be one of the 500 National Finalists, you will be required to submit a secondary application online.

  • Eligibility:
    • Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply (male and female students compete separately)
    • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify
    • Applicants must pursue a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university
    • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks
    • College students are not eligible to apply
    • Home-schooled students are eligible to apply
    • A student can apply for, but cannot accept, more than one Elks National Foundation scholarship or grant in any one academic year (Legacy Awards and Emergency Educational Grants are the other scholarships offered by the ENF)

    Applications must advance through local, district and state competitions to reach the national competition.

    Ranging from $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university.
