  • Application Overview:

    There are two ways to win the scholarship. First, you can create an account and submit your essay. If your essay is one of the top 5 vote recipients, your essay will be reviewed by a committee and the winner will be notified within 14 days of the close of the scholarship contest. Second, you can create an account and vote on other student's essays (you can also vote on your own). The registered user who votes on the most essays as of the scholarship deadline will receive a $500 scholarship.

    Essay Guidelines: . The essay should either be the essay you used for the Common Application or a response to the Common Application Essay topics:

    • Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
    • Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.
    • Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
    • Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
    • A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
    • Topic of your choice.
  • Eligibility:

    Any 9th-12th grade high school, college, or graduate student. There are no age limits but you have to be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

  • Purpose:

    This award is part of our ongoing mission to help students get into and pay for the college of their dreams.
