Westminster High School Class of 2013

Great Expeditions.
My name's Teresa, nice you meet you.
Scholarships. The idea of me getting one seemed pretty impossible. When my teachers at school mentioned the scholarships available, they all seemed like they did not apply to me. There was a scholarship for tall women. Nope, that's not me. 5' 1/2 inches is, sadly, not categorized as tall. There are plenty of scholarships for those amazing geniuses out there; then again, that is not me. I do not consider myself as highly intelligent or extremely athletic; I am just average, in my opinion. I realize I may not be incredible, but I work my butt off in order to become what I am determined to be. That thought encouraged me to find those scholarships that are for people like me, the less significant, but still very capable individual.
Here's a little bit of info about me.
I am lost. I have never had a great, not even good, sense of direction. I always have to ask for help. Then again, nothing is wrong with being lost, where you have been lost before is an oppertunity to look around. This is the oppertunity to roam, to venture, and to explore. So, I don't mind being lost because I am allowed to go to places I haven't been before.
Another fact about me is that when given a word to describe me, the word that is often used is strong. At first I was surprised at being called strong, I am the type of girl that hates pain, though I can never avoid the situations where I get hurt. After a while of letting the thought of me being strong soak into my head, I realized I am a strong person. Maybe no physically, but emotionally. I am capable of defending myself against another person's ideals or opinions. I often do not care of what another thinks of me, especially when their thoughts contain only negative connotations. I am proud to be the person who I am today, and am looking forward to grow to become a better person, to improve myself. Once again, to explore my new capabilities I gain with the experiences and accomplishments I achieve.
